Chem4SharePoint Installation Guide


In this installation guide, we assume you already have SharePoint 2007 or 2010 installed.  If you don't, you can set up such a test/development enviroment using open source VM software, VirtualBox, install Windows Server 2003 or 2008, then install SharePoint 2007 or 2010.


1. Download Chem4SharePoint for SharePoint 2007 or 2010

2. Run the downloaded MSI file


When configuring Chem4SharePoint, the installer automatically detect the system settings for you.

Connection String is the database connection string to access SharePoint database.

SharePoint Site is the SharePoint website url.

Www Root is the physical directory of SharePoint site.

Database: If Chem4SharePoint was installed before and you want to keep the old data such as previous stored chemical structures, you will need to set Database to "Use the Existing Chem4SharePoint DB".  Otherwise, the old data will be completely wiped out.

Once the configuration is done, the installer will ask for license code.  Please contact us to obtain a license.  We do offer free trial license.


3. Change SQL Server Authentication Mode to Mixed mode.

When running Chem4SharePoint, you may see this error message, which tells you that you need to set SQL Server authenication mode to Mixed mode.

Chem4SharePoint uses SQL Server authentication mode to access SharePoint database, so you need to change SQL Server authentication mode to Mixed Mode.

To do this, you need run REGEDIT cmd, then find the following key, and change the LoginMode value from 1 to 2.

Then restart SQL Server service.
